Klara's first trip to Wilson Pond

I had to make our trip to Maine last summer a separate post, there was just too many good pictures!

In early August we headed East, bound for the beautiful state of Maine and our favorite haunts on Wilson Pond. Just two short years since we were there for our wedding, and the first time back to "camp" - my how much has changed! We made our way to Tracy Island for vacation with the whole family. Yep, Grammy and Grampy, the Prues, the Pusches, the Koelkers and the Lambertsons (in the order they were married I guess). And my, oh my, it certainly was the whole fam damily.

As usual we had beautiful sunrises over Elephant Mountain, downpours that seemed almost hurricane-like, lots of good food, lots of games, plenty of fires in the fireplace, a little piano music floating out over the lake, our fair share of kayaking, boating (yes, that is Klara driving the boat)...

...and plenty of swimming (the water temps didn't even take your breath away!).

Klara wasn't really into the swimming, but she loved to "run" (with hands) down to the end of the dock and be dipped in the water.











We even got her cousin Clare into it!

The tree swing out over the water was a favorite, especially when Uncle Adam was the power behind the push.

Fairy houses were made or embellished daily. The cousins provided Klara with plenty of entertainment.

 

Reading is always a favorite pastime.

Sitting in great-Grampy's lap and getting a bottle in front of the fire or getting a bottle in Grampy's lap on the porch isn't half bad either.

And at the end, of course, we made a compulsory trip to Spring Creek BBQ in Monson to eat more than we should have of that yummy food that Kim and Mike have been cooking up for us for many years now. Mmmmm... just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

And Auntie Ruthie made an early birthday cake - carrot with cream cheese frosting. Klara of course promptly sucked all the frosting off and left the cake.

And a trip to Tracy Island wouldn't be complete without an eagle and loon sighting (not at the same time mind you).

 

It was a sad parting, but we are all looking forward to our next trip, whenever that will be.
